Product Description

The Kramer VM-20FW is an IEEE-1394 (Firewire) distribution amplifier / hub, with selectable (1 of 2) inputs and 20 outputs. It is the largest of a series of three, high quality Firewire DAs/hubs. The selected input signal is equalized for cable losses, and the outputs are all reclocked. The input ports are all electronically protected, and the unit allows "hot-swapping" and "Plug and Play" operation for data rates of 100/200/400 Mbps.

Several VM-20FW machines may be cascaded to increase the number of outputs, and since the unit reclocks the data, it may be used to effectively increase the operation range. LEDs on the front panel of the unit show the status of all the IEEE-1394 ports. The machine is dependable, rugged, and fits in one vertical space of a standard 19" professional rack enclosure.
